Our Vision
The vision of the Northley Middle School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive program that enables students to become productive citizens that are "Ready for Life." Strong character, compassion, empathy, and resiliency are characteristics that drive their success, while positively impacting others. Students demonstrate a strong work ethic and are empowered to reach their highest academic potential. As self-directed learners and critical thinkers, they are well prepared to pursue post-secondary options that match their skills and interests.
Our Mission
The mission of the Northley Counseling Department is to provide an equitable, data driven, comprehensive, developmental program, within the framework of a rigorous academic curriculum. Through coordination, consultation, and communication with students and stakeholders, we will enhance students’ personal growth, academic achievement, and career preparation. As student advocates, we provide targeted programs and interventions to help students develop their passion and become "Ready for Life," while breaking down barriers to success.
We are here for you and your student
Beginning in the 2023 - 2024 school year, school counselors will remain with their respective class of students for all three years. School counselors meet with students on an individual basis for personal problems, scheduling difficulties, peer issues, mental health struggles and a variety of other issues. The counselors meet with students in small groups throughout the year. A list of groups can be found under the Group Counseling tab. If you or your child would like to participate in a group, please email your counselor. Counselors also run special programs during the school year to reward and recognize students.
Northley Middle School Counselors also offer assistance with academic, social, and personal matters, as well as provide career information and direction. They teach classroom lessons dealing with issues such as conflict resolution, communication skills, careers decision making, coping skills and more. Individual guidance appointments may be made by sending your counselor a Schoology message. Students are urged to schedule appointments in advance unless the problem or concern is an urgent matter.
