Penn-Delco Names Justin Shivone as Principal of Northley Middle School

The Penn-Delco Board of School Directors approved the appointment of Mr. Justin Shivone as the next principal of Northley Middle School during its monthly meeting on July 16, 2025.

Mr. Shivone brings more than a decade of leadership and instructional experience to the role, most recently serving as principal of Chichester Middle School. He began his career as a 7th-grade social studies teacher and advanced through a variety of roles including In-School Suspension Coordinator, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal before stepping into his most recent leadership position.

Mr. Shivone holds a bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education from Millersville University. He earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Scranton and later completed his Educational Leadership certification at California University of Pennsylvania.

Superintendent Dr. George Steinhoff expressed confidence in Mr. Shivone’s leadership and his alignment with the district’s mission.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Shivone join the Penn-Delco and Northley Families,” said Dr. Steinhoff. “As our parents and students know, the Northley staff is a terrific group of talented and dedicated educators. I am very confident Mr. Shivone will be an effective and collaborative leader with such a team.”

“Our interview committees were impressed with Mr. Shivone's evident knowledge of the unique needs of middle-level students,” he added. “He was able to articulate a vision that matched the goals of Penn-Delco - delivering a rigorous instructional program that prepares students for the next phase of their lives, while doing so in an engaging and enjoyable school environment. I have every expectation of a great fit with Northley for Mr. Shivone.”

Mr. Shivone shares that he is eager to get started and continue the great work already happening at Northley.

“I’m excited to join Northley Middle School and build on the strong work already happening,” he said. “This is a school with great people, great kids, and a real sense of purpose.”

As he transitions into the role, Mr. Shivone is focused on fostering a supportive and engaging environment for both staff and students.

“My approach to leadership is simple: be present, be consistent, and lead with purpose,” he added. “I believe in setting a clear direction, supporting teachers, and making sure every student knows they matter.”

Mr. Shivone emphasizes the importance of clear expectations, strong partnerships with families, and a healthy dose of fun.

“Middle school should be structured, but it should also be fun. Kids deserve to feel safe, seen, and excited to walk through the doors,” he said.

When not at school, Mr. Shivone enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, relaxing with friends, and volunteering in his community.

Mr. Shivone’s official start date remains to be determined but no later than mid-September.
