Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for Northley

We are excited to welcome our students back to Northley Middle School! As we prepare for the first days of school, please review the following information regarding arrival, dismissal, and after-school activities.

First Days of School

  • Tuesday, September 8: 6th grade only
  • Wednesday, September 9: All grades report

The first few days may be a little busier as students, families, buses, and staff settle into the routine. Please be patient, follow staff directions, and allow extra time.

Please do not stop or get out of your vehicle to take pictures in the parent drop-off lane. This helps us keep traffic moving and students safe.

Arrival

  • School begins at 8:15 a.m.
  • Students should not be dropped off before 8:05 a.m. There is no adult supervision before that time.
  • If you arrive early, please have your student remain in the vehicle.
  • Students will enter through the main entrance and report to homeroom or breakfast.
  • Students who ride a bike to school should properly lock their bike to the bike rack on the side of the building.

Parent Drop-Off

  • Families dropping off students should use the parking lot next to the Administration Building.
    • Option 1: Enter from Pancoast Avenue, Exit onto Pancoast Avenue
    • Option 2: Enter from Concord Road, Exit onto Concord Road
Please follow the cones and directions from staff as you move through the lot.

Important: Do not enter the bus lane or stop in the fire lane at any time.

Please review the Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up diagram below for the traffic flow.

Dismissal

  • Walkers and car riders will exit through the G-Wing, located at the rear of the building adjacent to the football stadium.
  • Bus riders will exit through the 8th-grade hallway, on the side of the building adjacent to Bridgewater.

Parent Pick-Up

Families picking up students should:

  • Park in a designated parking space in the lot connecting the middle school and Administration Building.
  • Wait for your student to exit through the G-Wing.
  • Exit the parking lot onto either Concord Road or Pancoast Avenue.
  • Keep the bus lane and fire lane clear during dismissal.

After-School Activities

  • Students staying after school for athletics, clubs, extra help, or another approved activity should take their belongings with them when they report to the activity.
  • A late bus is available for students who stay after school for approved activities, athletics, or extra help.
  • Late bus routes use designated stops and may differ from a student's regular bus route. Families can find the current late bus stops on the district website under Transportation → LATE BUS (NMS AND SVHS). Students should tell the driver their typical bus stop and will be dropped off in that general area.
  • Students may not leave school grounds after dismissal and return later to ride the late bus.

The first few days always take a little extra patience as students, buses, and families settle into the routine. Our staff will be outside and around the building to help students and families along the way.

We appreciate your help and cooperation!
